Nomenclature
 
The city of Patuakhali is about one and a half years old. There is a disagreement with the origin of this name. It is difficult to say when, when, and how Patuakhali was named. There is no compelling evidence for this nomenclature. Although there are disagreements in naming Patuakhali, most of them support the origin of the Patuakhali nomenclature from the "Putavar Canal" by the late Devendra Nath Dutt's old poem. In the seventeenth century, the southern part of the Bakla-Chandradeep became almost deserted by Portuguese pirate attacks, plundering, arson, torture, abduction and destruction. At present, the present Patuakhali city area was the Sundarbans and the locals were on the north side of the river. The present Loqathi river on the north side was the rental canal of the Lohaliya and Pigera rivers. The Portuguese pirates came through these freight canals after village to plunder and persecute them. Due to the arrival of the Portuguese through this canal, locals created many stories and stories. Its name is the canal on the face of everyone. Later Patuakhali originated from this canal. In the seminar titled "History and Tradition of Patuakhali District" held at Sher-e-Bangla Town Hall in the year, most speakers, essayist and author of 'History of Barisal' Siraj Uddin Ahmed supported this view. Two other names like Patuakhali are Patuakhali groups once lived in this area. They made pottery in the hands of skilled people and put various types of pots or pictures in it. The name Patuakhali may have originated from this 'Patua'. Or it may be Patuakhali in the area surrounded by a stomach-shaped canal and later called Patuakhali. However, the latter opinion has no strong support for the two.

Braj Mohan Dutt proposed the establishment of a new subdivision in Patuakhali. The announcement of the creation of the Patuakhali subdivision was published in the Calcutta Gazette on March 7, 2010. In 7, Patuakhali was transformed into a subdivision. Kalikapur was named after the southern side of Laukathi under the name of Kalika Prasad Roy, the son of Zamindar Hudaya Shankar. This is where the city is built. The subdivision headquarters was established on the eastern side of the Kalibari Pond. The locals used to call it the Baushasha Court, where the court first sat in a house made of bamboo and bark. At that time, Braj Mohan Dutt held the post of Munsif and Deputy Magistrate. On 5 January, the then Commissioner of Khulna Division inaugurated the function of the district administration of Patuakhali district at the Darbar Hall. East Admiral S.
